Question: Hi I'm a 31 year old woman who is over weight. I'm 5'5 and weigh 220. I was diagnosed with pulmonary hypertension two years ago and ever since then worried about dying because of everything on the internet. My pulmonary pressures were 38 then. when I went back a year later they were 32. I go back again in march. 3 months ago I had bronchitis but a little before that my right lung felt like there was pressure in it. ever since it feels like my right lung just can't get any goof amount of air in if. when I start worrying more it feels like my throat is closing up and I can't get any air. I also have anxiety. I'm just very concerned about my right lung being associated with my PH. I worry so much that I lay on the couch. when I lay down it's dine but when I am acting its a concatnt annoyance that its its tightening. please advise. thanks.

Brief Answer:
needs evaluation

Detailed Answer:
Thanks for your question on HCM.

I can understand your situation and problem.
I want to ask few questions first.
1. Have you consulted pulmonologist?
2. Have you gone through PFT (pulmonary function test)?
3. Have you gone through CT pulmonary angiography?
4. Which treatment you are taking at present?

Isolated right sided chest tightness in pulmonary hypertension can be due to
1 . Right sided chest infection.
2. Right sided pulmonary embolism.
3. Right sided spasm.
4. Anxiety related (as you are diagnosed case of anxiety).

So PFT is needed to rule out spasm.
CT pulmonary angiography is needed to rule out infection and embolism.
If all are normal than mostly you are having anxiety associated right sided chest tightness.
So better to consult pulmonologist and discuss all these.
Please reply answers of above mentioned questions, so that I can guide you better.
I will be happy to help you further.
Wish you good health.
Thanks.

I have never been to a pulmonologist only to a cardiologist which my Primary sent me to. A year and a half ago I had a PFT and they said I have asthma. cardiologist said he wants to keep an eye on my pressures he read from the echo. I just get so nervous and read online and start worrying the PH is going to kill me. I am not on any treat
ment because I have never had any issues with PH
besides a fast heart rate. I have worn a holter and they said everything was fine. my family thinks it's my anxiety because I worrg so much my mom recently passed away so I keep worrying now I'm dying. thanks for your help. I made an appointment for my primaery but sometimes I think he just likes to talk to me.

Brief Answer:
Better to visit pulmonologist and rule out asthma

Detailed Answer:

Hello dear, thanks for your follow up question on HCM.

First of all no need to worry much.
Just consult pulmonologist and rule out asthma or other obstructive or restrictive lung diseases.
As untreated lung diseases can lead to pulmonary hypertension.
You need to first diagnose yourself than start treatment accordingly.
Once appropriate treatment is started, you will be alright.
So avoid too much stress and tension. Be relaxed and calm. Consult pulmonologist and discuss all these.

Hope I have solved your query.
