Question : I have a long (1/3 of my forearm) bruise that is about 1 1/2 inches wide. Down the middle of the bruise is a long white line. At the base of the bruise is a small dot which could be a puncture (not sure). Do you need more information?
Brief Answer:
It is due to infection.
Detailed Answer:
Hi
I saw the pic.
The redness is due to infection and associated inflammation. It might have occurred due to trivial injury or a bite by an insect.
I prescribe antibiotic like Linezolid 600mg twice daily and anti inflammatory tablet to my patients with similar complaints.
Please consult your doctor, get examined clinically and get appropriate prescription.
Hope I answered your query. If you have any questions, I will clarify further.
Wish you good health.
Regards

Hi
So it is not a bruise? It looks and feels like all of the other bruises I have gotten.
Also, if I do not take antibiotics will it go away naturally?
Finally, is there any non-prescription over the counter medicine I could take instead?

It may not go naturally.
Detailed Answer:
Hi
It is not a regular bruise.
It doesn't come down without Antibiotic.
I am sorry to say that there are no over the counter medicines for this.
I request you to consult your doctor and get appropriate prescription.
