Question: I had a pleural infection last year which got resolved after the six-month ATT treatment. Even though treatment was successful, I now have some residual pleural thickening on my right lung which causes slight discomfort when i do deep breathing. What can be done to resolve the residual pleural scar/thickening ?

Brief Answer:
Nothing should be done for this residual pleural thickening.

Detailed Answer:
Thanks for your question on Healthcare Magic.
I can understand your concern.

Some sort of pleural thickening and scarring is common after healing of tubercular pleural effusion.
This is scarred tissue due to thickening and fibrosis of pleural layers.
No treatment is required for this as they are not harmful.
Some form of pain on movements like deep breathing, sneezing, coughing etc is seen.
For this kind of pain you should apply warm water pad on affected areas. You can also take simple painkiller like ibuprofen.
Don't worry, you will be alright.
Nothing should be done for this kind of residual pleural thickening.

Hope I have solved your query. I will be happy to help you further.
Wish you good health. Thanks.
