Suggest Treatment For Severe Gum Infection

Question: My dentist says i need to have two molars deep cleaned below the gum line. One has a six measurement and the other 4. I have had a full shoulder replacement. and have to take 2000 mg antibiotic every time i just go to get my teeth cleaned. Do you think I should chance having this gum treatment. Obviously i do not want to do any procedure that might cause any infection of my titanium shoulder. (At ALL) or anywhere else for that mattter. I had c-def 8 years ago, and have had repeated episodes of the c-def. from taking antibiotics. Is the gum treatment a necessity. Am i going to get an under the gum infection if i dont ge it done. The gums have been that way for several years, but the deeper one is getting worse What do you recommend

Brief Answer:
Gum cleaning should be done ..

Detailed Answer:
Hi..
Thanks for the query..

I have read your question and your medical history in detail .

It looks like the infection in the gum is deep enough leading to Periodontal pocket formation.
If it is left untreated it can turn out to be a source of infection..

So it is advisable for you to get the deep cleaning done..

Take antibiotics only after proper advise from your Physician to prevent any complications like C.diff.
Also to minimise the use of antibiotics you can start gargling with antiseptic mouthwash like Chlorhexidine.
You can massage your gums with antiseptic oral ointment..
You can do warm saline gargles.

Hope this information helps .
