Question: I have had sever migraine - like headaches for past year. MRI from year ago states abnormal cervical spine with early degenerative changes of the disc between c4 and c7 including posterior broad-based proturusion with multilevel indentation thecal sac. My dr says it's no more than a neck sprain? Why do I have such horrible headaches, advise please!

Brief Answer:
Mild degenerative changes in spine.

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thanks for posting your query.
Just an indentation of the thecal sac is usually a reversible change that will reverse after regular physiotherapy. It is an early spondylottic change but is not likely to cause the severe headache like you are having. Taking muscle relaxants should help in subsiding the pain. Frequent stretch breaks during the work and proper working posture will also help in reducing the pain.
You can consider getting physiotherapy and TENS under the guidance of a physiotherapist. If the severe headache persists then do consult a neurologist to rule out other causes.
I hope this answers your query.

Brief Answer:
Protrusion of the disc over the vertebra.

Detailed Answer:
Hello.
Thanks for writing again.
Broad based protrusion means just protrusion of whole of the disc without any nerve root compression. This is an early change of cervical spondylosis and should not cause a severe headache like you are having.
Hope my answer is helpful.
