Brief Answer:
there are various potential causes...

Detailed Answer:
Hello,

muscle cramps is a difficult disorder to investigate. Most of the times no cause can be identified (idiopathic cramps). Some potential causes include: neurological problems like neuropathy or motor neuron disease, toxins, significant liver problems, drugs that cause electrolyte disorders like the diuretics, drugs that affect the muscles like the statins, excessive physical activity of the involved muscles, etc.

If you've measured your serum sodium, potassium and magensium and they're normal, then I doubt your doctor will identify any cause! You can try to have your leg on a pillow when you sleep. This position may reduce the incidence of cramps when lying on your back.

No other supplements/drugs or anything else is required, until you have a diagnosis.

I hope it helps!
You can contact me again, if you'd like any clarification or further information.

Kind Regards!
