Suggest Treatment For Shingles While On Acyclovir

Question : diagnosed with Shingles, had vaccine 2 yrs ago. First doc put me on Amox-Clav 875 mg twice a day, second doc put me on Acyclovir 800 mg. My mouth feels odd and I see to have swelling, which of these drugs is causing this please.

Dear Ms, Acyclovir can cause the side effects of pain in the gums, sores or ulcers of the tongue and mouth. it can also cause increased thirst.
Amox-clav can cause the side effects of red and itchy mouth, bad taste in the mouth and discoloration of tongue and teeth.

No you should complete the course of amox-clav as prescribed by your doctor . stopping your antibiotic before completing the course can lead to recurring of symptoms and bacterial resistance to the antibiotic .
