Question : I have a broken fibula at the ankle area. It is wrapped and in a boot. Sometimes I get hot shooting pains on the top of the affected foot. I can remove the wrap and it goes away, but there is a red spot on the top of the foot where this pain seems to radiate from. Due to the break, I am also on 325 mg/day aspirin. I have no risk factors for clots, but this shooting pain concerns me.
Brief Answer:
The boot is not fitting properly & it is too tight. It needs to be refitted
Detailed Answer:
Welcome to HCM: Please note that this is a common occurrence with boots and casts. The fitting of these boots and casts is very tricky and many times it can leads to cut off of blood circulation, I would have it refitted or padding used (there are socks that can be used with the boots that have cushioning). Please note that the red marks on your skin is a sign that it does not fit right, this may break your skin open and you will develop an infection, so it is very important to have it refitted. Thanks and I hope this helps.
