Question: Thank you for following up - I went to see my medicare doctor and he wanted to put me on the drug Aricept. That drug has lots of side effect s so I using vitamins to handle my issue and so far they seem to be working

The drug Aricept you describe is used for cognitive impairment as in conditions like Alzheimer's or other types of dementia. So, as you don't mention being told a diagnosis you should discuss with your doctor why did he think it was necessary for you, as a diagnosis like dementia is a serious condition which you and your family members should be aware about. Also some blood tests and brain imaging would be necessary to search for the cause.

As for Aricept, remember that every drug has a long list of side effects, it's side effects are not that frequent, so if the diagnosis is confirmed you should try it, but only if the diagnosis has been correctly made.

For the moment if you feel better with vitamins that's great, it goes without saying that natural supplements are better than drugs.
