Question : I have been having slight congestion, runny nose, headache and occasional dizziness for the past few days. I also have tiredness, sort of like the feeling I get before getting a cold. I did have a 10 hour drive earlier this week. I got out of the car and walked around every 3 hours. I was dizzy the evening after I arrived home from my trip. I assumed it was from the long car ride (this has happened before). is this something I should go to the doctor for, or should I wait a few days? some.background information- 30 year old female, good health and I take baby aspirin every day.

Brief Answer:
Can be managed conservatively.Get well soon

Detailed Answer:
N next 3 days.Hi dear.Thanks your query.

I appreciate and thank you for giving a detailed clinical history.Yes, long drive shall at times trigger sinus malfunction resulting in inflammation of sinus/nose.
I would recommend symptomatic treatment & can be definitely managed conservatively.

I would suggest-
Steam inhalation 2-3 times a day for 5 days.
This shall relieve nasal and sinus congestion and improves ventilation.

Apply Otrivin nasal drops (2 drops in each nostril at a time morning & evening) -overthecounter drug to relieve congestion.

Drink plenty of fluids.Avoid cold food and beverages.Avoid exposure to early morning cold weather.

Take Tab.Paracetamol 500 mg three times a day after food if you have headache.

Observe if your symptoms are subsiding in next 3 days, in the absence of which consult an ENT surgeon.

I would like to know if you have any history of sinusitis?
Why are taking baby aspirin? Was it prescribed by your doctor?

Hope this answers your query.Get well soon.

thank you for your answer. I have a recent history of sinus infections (I assume) and constant post nasal drip, but I have not seen a doctor for it. they usually clear up on their own after a while, but the post nasal drip stays.
I take baby aspirin because I was diagnosed with protein s deficiency during my pregnancies. My levels have since returned to the low side of normal. my doctor said to continue taking the baby aspirin because it won't cause any harm to continue taking it.

Brief Answer:
Suspect DNS.Consult an ENT once symptoms subside

Detailed Answer:
Hi again. Thanks for the quick revert.

Post nasal drip is not normal(except during upper repiratory tract infection) and should be evaluated. However this is not a urgent condition which requires immediate treatment.

Once your symptoms get relieved consult an ENT surgeon and discuss with him.I would probably suspect a deviated nasal septum(DNS) especially if have recurrent one sided nose blocks.Examination of the nose and para-nasal sinuses can identify the cause of post nasal drip and can be treated accordingly.

I am glad that your levels are lower side.Continue baby aspirin as per your doctors advice. You can safely use aspirin with the above medication.

Hope this answers your query.
