Question: my wife has just been diagnosed with malignent melanoma, early stage 4 with breslow .6mm thickness. should I be more concerned with the early stage 4 or less concerned because of the breslow .6mm thickness, which I'm understanding from Plastic Surgeon to be minimal?

Brief Answer:
Yes it is minimal

Detailed Answer:
Hi
Thanks for your query.

Here the breslow thickness is less than 1 mm and it is not ulcerated, so it is a very early stage T1a melanoma. The XXXXXXX level early IV won't cause much concern here.

I think she will have a very good prognosis.

Hope this helps.

Would you suggest Mohs surgery, modified Mohs or just plain surgery?

Brief Answer:
Standard surgery

Detailed Answer:
Since it is located on the chest, I would just recommend standard surgery for melanoma, also known as wide local excision.
