Question : I am experiencing stiff knee joints and stiffness of the leg muscles. By late afternoon my leg muscles are better but not back to normal.

Hello,
I have studied your case and I think that you may be having knee arthritis with weak muscles. It is common in above 6o years patient. Before I advised you any further I would like to know little detail of the illness.
1.Since when you are having these symptoms?
2.Are you having difficulty in stairs, squatting, sitting cross leg?
3.Are you Diabetic or smoker?

I have recently suffered from PMR and was taking Prednisolone. This was ceased about 6 months ago. Since them I have had stiff leg muscles and have had various aches and pains in shoulders, neck, arms and elbows at different times but now my knees are of concern and stiff leg muscles. I am not sure if this is an after effect of PMR, arthritis or a virus.

Hello,
Most probable cause is arthritis and Predinisolone may have increases muscle ache. I would suggest you to get your blood investigation like CRP, ESR and Ra factor.If these tests are positive then it is confirmed that you will feel after anti rheumatoid medicines.
Following treatment is given in these circumstances.
1.Tablet HCQ twice daily
2.Tablet Methotrexate once a week.
3.Hot water fomentation.
4.Calcium and vitamin D 3 daily.
