Suggest Treatment For Swollen Tonsils And Dry Cough

default
Posted on Mon, 27 Feb 2017
Question: I have been dealing with bad sinus drainage, a dry cough and clogged sinus for the last month. I also noticed that the bottom of my right tonsil has a yellow/orange color on about the bottom half. The tonsil is not swollen and not sore. I am on my second round of augmenton antibiotic's The drainage seems to be getting better but I still have the occasional cough. It also seems every night my nose closes off and I breath through my mouth all night and wake up with my mouth and throat so dry. Thoughts?

Brief Answer:
Chronic sinusitis

Detailed Answer:
hi
welcome to healthcare magic and thanks for putting up the query
you are having sinusitis and chronic tonsillitis..sometimes due to chronic sinusitis and repeated post nasal discharge there is throat infection that represents as spots in tonsils..it will improve as sinusitis will be cured
as per my clinical experience, only antibiotics would not be sufficient..also use a steroid nasal spray and oral decongestants twice a day..
also use hexidine gargles for throat infection..
get one ct scan paranasal sinuses done to see how many sinuses are involved..furthur treatment will depend on the reports..
wishing you a speedy recovery
any further questions are always welcome
Thanks and regards

So I am guessing it will take time for the yellow on tonsil to resolve?

Chronic sinusitis

Detailed Answer:
hi
Thanks for the follow up query
the tonsillar infection will suffice as the sinusitis will be cured..you can continue using hexidine gargles
if throat infection appears to increase, after a week gap from antibiotics course..u should go for a throat swab for culture sensitivity
any further questions are always welcome
get well soon
Thanks and regards
