Brief Answer:
Allow me a chance to look into your problem

Detailed Answer:
Good evening. Sorry, for the problems you're having with your ambulation. I'm not one to easily give up on problems if my patients are willing to try other things. I'm no stranger to staying active in sports and athletics DESPITE what some people would consider my very advanced age for what I do on a regular basis...including competitions and tournaments with participants that can be at times 1/3 of MY AGE.....so I would not say 80 years young has to be a reason for any debility....UNLESS the patient says it is.....My mother started marathon running at age 55 and she was a Critical Care Nurse at the VA.....She then, went on to get her CCRN at age 65 and is now 82. She is a bit out of running but wants to get back into it so over the past week I've gotten her back into training. She can easily jog several miles without breathing hard. She wants to do marathons again.....so I will start to train her little by little....I don't particular like running....but heck...if she can do then, I darn well can do it! HA!

I hope I've given you a little insight into how much I'm interested in SEEING you get back to a more normal walking way....IF THAT'S WHAT you want to do....and by SEEING you, perhaps that's more possible than you might think. I used to practice at XXXXXXX Community Hospital and we lived in Boardman. We nearly chose a house in Poland....but doesn't on Boardman very close to the High School back there off of Glenndale Drive...but the neighborhood we chose in Boardman was just PACKED with kids that were the same age as ours at the time so that's where we landed. However, we moved from Boardman in 2006 and I now have a private neurology practice in Parma, Ohio and also run the Headache Clinic at the XXXXXXX XXXXXXX Stokes VA Medical Center. So, you just never know but maybe one day you'd like to visit my office in beautiful PARMA, OHIO? Perhaps, on your way back from University Hospitals (which is where I trained by the way back in the mid 90's).

Now, let's talk about your problems a bit.....First of all, I understand the trouble you may be having trying to upload EMG reports to this system if you've even got them.....I'm not sure that's absolutely necessary since you've already said something important which is the fact that you've been diagnosed with spinal canal stenosis and arthritis. Can you tell me if you've been diagnosed with RHEUMATOID ARTHRITIS or OSTEOARTHRITIS?. My guess is you have OSTEOARTHRITIS since RA probably would've been diagnosed on you many decades ago and you definitely would've known it with the typical and classic deformity of the fingers and hands.....so, my guess is that you're suffering from osteoarthritis. You say you've also been seen by 2 neurologists and had tests as well as an EMG. Do you have copies of your bloodwork and of the EMG's? You don't need to upload them but if you could simply copy out the CONCLUSION or IMPRESSION that would be sufficient.

So, in the first place we would want to verify that you've had the possible bloodwork done searching for TREATABLE causes of neuropathy....metabolic causes that is...though I understand that the likelihood of having a METABOLIC form of neuropathy (such as diabetes, thyroid disease, Rheumatoid arthritis) is less than the simple neuropathy that is caused by severe spinal canal stenosis which would be a MECHANICAL form of the problem. Now, unfortunately, if spinal canal stenosis is the call and IF it extends over a long segment then, surgical considerations would be risky and could potentially leave you in a bit of a bigger hole than you're in now....so I'd rather counsel you to consider more conservative forms of treatments starting with something as simple as AQUATHERAPY in conjunction with GOOD physical therapy. And by GOOD physical therapy I'm talking about therapists who are as interested in seeing you succeed when you go to their centers as if they were working with a 30 year old patient doing rehab after a simple fracture or something......you need a good coach and supervisor who will not view your age as an absolute barrier and still challenge you with exercises that are GOOD for you and don't make things more painful and difficult than they already are. I do know therapists who fit that XXXXXXX ...but unfortunately, they are in the XXXXXXX area and not Poland.

I am also almost sure that the YMCA on Mahoning Avenue offers aquatherapy. But where you can find out for sure the places around you that offer aquatherapy would be by calling the XXXXXXX Office at: 216-831-7000

If you speak with XXXXXXX XXXXXXX you can tell her that I asked you to speak with her because she is just a darling lady there in the Arthritis Foundation Offices. You can get yourself on a mailing list and get all sorts of patient education information and also, find out from her if there are any affiliated aquatherapy locations which usually charge very minimal fees if patients go through the Arthritis Foundation to get to them.

There are just a ton of things that you can do and diets you can implement for your arthritic condition...none of these things guarantee a cure since there is no cure at this time...but ALL of these things done according to your tolerance and like can definitely chip away (no pun intended) at your condition and with patience and baby step progress can make things better. I am a huge advocate of stretching exercises (primarily because of my sport) and so even if you don't think you can stretch you have to start somewhere.

Check this page out on your computer. There are exercise regimens suggested:

Then, peruse the website to find other suggestions to get you started with ideas.

Other medical suggestions would entirely depend upon the conditions you have physically and what sorts of lab tests have been done and their results.

If I've satisfactorily addressed your question could you do me the kindest of favors by CLOSING THIS QUERY and be sure to include some fine words of feedback on your opinion as to our transaction? If you have any comments or are interested in potentially considering a visit to XXXXXXX OH for a workup feel free to let me know at your convenience and we can work to set that up.
