Posted on Sat, 31 Jan 2015
Question: I woke up this morning with a reddish bruise on the inner corner and upper lid of my right eye. I am not aware of any trauma to the eye. It does not hurt just alarming. I do have glaucoma and take 2 eye drops for my right eye only one drop in the left eye. After I put eye drop in I typically press with my finger the inner corner of my eye for around 30 sec . Perhaps I pressed too hard?

Brief Answer:
From the history it appears like subconjunctival hemorrhage.

Detailed Answer:
Hello
Welcome to Health care Magic.

I am Dr. Dadapeer K, an ophthalmologist and I will be answering your question.

I reviewed your history.
It seems from the history that you are having bruise of the inner corner of the eye and the eyelid.
From the symptoms it is appearing like subconjunctival hemorrhage probably secondary to applying pressure.

The condition usually resolves over 1-2 weeks. No treatment is required. Use of cold compression and vitamin C tablets will help in early resolution of symptoms.

If possible do send me a photo of the affected eye so that I can confirm the diagnosis and advice you more accurately.

Hope this is helpful to you.
Do write back to me for further questions.

Thank you
With regards
