Suggest Treatment For Syphilis

At first all I got was the two shots of penacilian
Once I went in for my second treatment they gave me my two regular shots and then put me on my pills
I went in for my 3rd treatment and the MD that works there told me that my levels have not dropped since my last treatments? He then said they can only give me my last set of shots and that he can't help me any longer.
He sent me to go to UCLA to go an expert in this and they don't take medi cal.
My question is, why wouldn't my levels drop significantly? I was told that I should've received my pills during my first treatment visit. Is it because I didn't start my pills? Is the syphilis getting stronger? Am I screwed? The MD at the clinic also told me that the antibody could still be present and that's why I'm still testing that high?
Here's another strange fact, me and my partner had unprotected sex a few times and all of his results came back negative. We have yet to have sex again until we figure this out.
Please please please help!!!!
Test will take long time to became nonreactive following adequate treatment
Detailed Answer:
HI,
Welcome to HCM.
Thanks for posting your query.
Have you any other relationship other than your present partner?
Before my suggestion , I want you know about certain facts about the diagnosis of Syphilis, its management and follow up.
1. Two types of test are available: Non specific reagent test and specific Treponemal test.
Nonspecific test has prognostic value but sometimes shows reaction in conditions other than Syphilis also (Biological false positive-not technical error). It can be ruled out with the help of specific test. If it had not been verified with specific test review the diagnosis.
2. What strength pf peniciliin and what type of penicillin you had? Adequate dose according to the stage is very important
3. Following adequate treatment with early stage it would take the reactivity to become non reactive not less than 6-9 months. If you are already in late syphilis, then it would take an year or more to become non reactive or sometimes titre descend and settle in permanent low titre for ever (serological scar)
4. Nowadays we've started experiencing Syphilis resistant to Penicillin.
Consult an expert and follow his/her guidance.
