Chronic Cyst on back of head with headache? under Investigation
Detailed Answer:
Chronic Cyst on back of head with headache? under Investigation
Hi,Dear Thanks for the updates on my last reply.
Extremely sorry for My belated reply, due to hectic day with critical cases today.
I just reviewed your main query and in that context reviewed your updated reply, which didn't update on-
size of the lump /
the XXXXXXX or fixed nature of your lump and XXXXXXX or fixed?
and on Any history of any combing trauma lately in last 3-4 weeks time?
and on -Any fever or body ache/malaise since the lump has become tender to touch?
I would assume that you didn't report and update on it as you were concerned and centered on two additional ailments which you are suffering from as follows-
-the Rheumatoid arthritis history and its medicines ,
- with history of Menopausal reporting from your gyne doctor.
In reference to context of this limited information, I would try to give my opinion.
But if you find it, short of your expectation, you are welcome for another query in regard to this query.
AS your case is still not well informed with your last reply and information,I hope I could be able to help you out more in reasoning out your health concerns,as finding cause of your complaints is very important in plan of your treatment,so as to relieve you from this complex growing lump on back of your head,
- which is causing headache and twitching of the left eye on the same
(ipsi-lateral )side of the growing painful lump on the Back of your head.
Cause of the growing lump-infection from recurrent combing trauma to Cystic Lump-
-As your CT scan has confirmed it to be Cystic Lump, and from your facts of query and facts updated in last reply,it seems to be Sebaceous painless lump for last 22 yrs, which has lately got painful to touch.
-This growing lump has started growing with simultaneous pain on touch as per your facts,
-This fact indicates that you lately had some un-noticed trauma to Sebaceous Cyst on left side of back of your head, due to which it is hard at center and is mush / soft around.
- this fact is due to the increased pressure from increased intra-cystic collection, which is secondary to the infection caused after the recurring un-noticed combing trauma, and which you noticed only 2 weeks ago.
Cause of Growing headache with twitching of the left eye, on the same side of infected painful growing Sebaceous Cyst on back of your head-
-Infected Sebaceous Cyst has contributed to severe headache due to the systemic toxic effects of the bacterial infection and
-secondly due to the Cellulitis irritating the scalp nerve supply around-greater and lesser occipital nerves, which are near to the anatomical location of the location sited by your last reply.
-Twitching in the ipsi-lateral left eye,has also started since last 2 weeks only, and this is due to the Systemic Rheumatic effects of the bacterial toxins of the infected Sebaceous Cyst.
Treatment plan in short-
- Consult your ER Surgeon ,as all these problems would be confirmed by him and who would treat it with-
-Antibiotics /
-Anti-inflammatory medicines /
-and under antibiotic cover would Surgically Excise and drain the Sebaceous Cyst -after USG and / or CT Scan / and blood tests.
And hence he would decide if need be to take neuro-surgeons or neurologist opinion.
Continue treatment for other 2 ailments with other 2 specialists,as this would not effect the outcome of this lump and complications related with it.
Hope this would relieve you of your query.
If Satisfied don't forget to write your valuable review and hit thanks, which would improve my rating to new visitors to HCM.
Welcome for any further query in this regard to Me.
Have a good day.
With Regards,
