Question : Hi me and wife are trying for baby, my wife was prescribed Clomid. Then ovulation period was studied which was ok and hcg injection was given, inbetween she got stones so she went for ivp. She missed her periods and home pregnancy kit showed faint positive.we went for ultrasound said thick endometrium of 12 mm and delayed pregnancy cannot be ruled out. They too tested and it too was faint. But now my wife has got heavy bleeding and bloodclots are coming. Wat could be reason, if ivp or should I also go for sperm testing. When we can again try for baby. If by any chance she could still pe pregnant after this bleeding. Thanx

Brief Answer: may not be pregnant. try next cycle Detailed Answer: Hello XXXXXXX Thanks for writing to healthcare magic. The best way to diagnose a pregnancy in cases of faint line or weak positive is by a blood test for beta hcg. If done 48 hours apart a healthy pregnancy shows increasing levels. In your wife's case as there is heavy bleeding there may be no use of doing these tests as she may not have conceived or even if she has conceived may have aborted early. But still If you want to confirm you can request a blood test for pregnancy. Ideally the semen analysis of husband also to be done as any problem can be treated simultaneously. if we should go for ultrasound check as this might be a miscarriage and when do we try fr baby, if its ok to wait few months for my wife to heal

Brief Answer: wife to take folic acid tablets. Detailed Answer: Dear XXXXXXX , Thanks for writing back. If your wife is healthy then there is no medical contraindications to delay pregnancy. But as you said she gas undergone IVP recently she can definitely wait for few cycles. Meanwhile semen analysis can be done. Also your wife should take folic acid tablet daily like folmet or folimust so that further miscarriage chances are less. Meanwhile she may also conceive naturally. Thanks.
