Question: Hello,
My very active 15 year old son has been tired the last couple of weeks. Last night he played a basketball game and when we returned home, he went right to bed. He slept from 7:30 pm until about 12:00 pm today. He ate some lunch and went back to bed. My son is a very picky eater and doesn't eat three times a day. He is about 5 foot 9 inches and weighs 135 pounds. He hasn't complained of anything except being tired. My wife and I are very concerned. What are your thoughts? Thank you.

Feeling tiredness in an otherwise healthy individual is most likely due to a subclinical viral infection. These viruses are everywhere in our environment and viral infections are common. Usually these symptoms last for 7-10 days and gradual recovery happens on its own.
If the tiredness is persistent then other causes need to be considered like hypothyroidism, anemia, depression, etc.
Right now you need to wait for few days for a spontaneous improvement to happen. You can supplement his diet with Vitamin C and XXXXXXX tea for early recovery.
If the symptoms are persistent then you need to consult a physician for proper investigations.
