What Are The Home Remedies For A Mild Bladder Infection?

default
Posted on Fri, 27 Jan 2017
Question: I think I have a mild bladder infection or at least irritation. We are snowed in here and I can't get to a Dr. until next week. Are there any home remedies that would be helpful. Background: I think I upset my internal flora with a big dose of holiday candy. I take probiotic capsules.

Brief Answer:
Here are a few suggestions you can try ma'am

Detailed Answer:
Hello ma'am and welcome.

Thank you for writing to us.

I have gone through your query with diligence and would like you to know that I am here to help. If at all this is an infection, then it will respond only to antibiotics, and if any home remedies are used, they will only partially and temporarily help in suppressing and/or relieving symptoms.

Here are a few home remedies you may try ma'am:

+Mix 1 tablespoon baking soda in a glass of water and gulp it down; do this at least 3 times a day

+Drink plenty of water, it helps in relieving any burning sensation, bladder irritation and/or pain

+Mild pain killers may help, but nothing too strong

+Drink plenty of cranberry juice, you can drink as much as tolerated

+Avoid alcohol

+Avoid sugar and carbohydrates completely until your symptoms completely subside

+Avoid citrus fruits and drinks

+Avoid caffeine in all forms

If at all your symptoms subside completely before you have to visit the doctor, then may be you won't have to visit the doctor, but if they appear on and off, then please do take the time to visit a doctor as soon as you find an opportunity.

Please feel free to write to me for any further clarifications, I am always here to help.

Best wishes.
