Detailed Answer:
Hi and welcome.
FIrst, every gastroenterologist will recommend Humira when it is really necessary; it means when ither therapy such as steroids, aminosalicylates or imuran medicines are not effective. Unfortunately, the course of Crohns disease is in most patients progressive and sooner or later most of them will require stronger antiinflammatory medications. Humira is TNF inhibitor that supresses inflammation of bowel wall, this is pretty new, sophisticated medication which can be very efficient and bring significant improvement and prolong time till surgical solution or in somepeople it may even stop disease progression completely.
Of course, medications has some limits and side effects but I am sure that doctors considered all pros and cons and it may be the last choice before surgical resection. Major side effects are very rare and you should not think of it, it includes lymphomas as can be found online but this is really rare scenario. Common side effects are certain types of rash, headache, nausea. Allergic reactions and decreases immune system are less common.
SO all in all, I believe this is good option for you if there is Crohns progression verified.
Wish you good health. Regards
