What Caues Sudden High Fever With Fainting?

default
Posted on Fri, 23 May 2014
Question: My son will be 4 in a couple weeks. He was fine this morning and this afternoon came down with a sudden fever (102.5) He woke from his nap and went to the restroom and I found him on the floor. He told me he couldn't walk. I tried to stand him up and he fell over again. I gave him Tylenol, but I'm debating taking him to children's after care in my area...is this necessary?

Brief Answer:
Get him checked by pediatrician as soon as possibl

Detailed Answer:
Hi there,

To my opinion, you should send him to a pediatrician as further tests are necessary to explain why he fell. As he had a sudden onset of high fever, I suspect brain bad reactions. That's why I am asking to send him to a pediatrician.

Meanwhile, I advise to:
- give him plenty of water and other juice (fluids)
- monitor his body temperature and give tylenol if high. I usually advise my patients to give anal suppositories if fever will persist higher than 40 Celsius degree.

Wish fast recovery!
