Brief Answer:
Itching after the removal of mole is quite normal and usually seen.

Detailed Answer:
Hello,

Welcome and thanks for posting your query to the forum.

I can understand your concern for the itching around your stitches after the removal of mole.

Let me reassure you first that the itching after the removal of mole is quite normal and usually seen. This is due to the fact that there is healing process at the removal site. This healing process induces mild to moderate inflammation and therefore certain factors are released which causes healing as well as pain of mild to moderate nature.

The itching is of variable nature and varies from person to person. Additionally the thread which is used in the stitches also cause bit mild irritation as is foreign body to the skin.

So so not worry about the same. In my patients with your kind of problem I generally prescribe an antihistamine tablet such as Des-loratadine or cetrizine or benadryl to relieve the itch.

You can report this itching problem to your doctor presently or at the time of stitch removal. If at all you feel any sever pain or inflammation or deep redness or oozing from the site then can report immediately.

Do not try to scratch or pinch the area as it can disturb the stitch site and can cause secondary infection.

I hope this information will help you. I will be glad to guide you any further.

Brief Answer:
The mild redness is the usual course of progress of the wound healing.

Detailed Answer:
Hello,

Welcome back and thanks a lot for sending the picture for analysis.

After analyzing the picture let me reassure you fully that the area is healing quite well. The mild redness is the usual course of progress of the wound healing. The redness shows the formation of granulation tissue necessary for the apposition of wound properly.

As I guided you before, mild to moderate itching is quite common during the healing process due to release of factor during the healing process.

You should remember that the warning signs in any wound is if one feels any throbbing or pulsating pain at the affected site. In your case it is quite normal itching as well as the redness is of mild nature, so there is nothing to be worried about. Most of the time we remove the stitch by 7th day. Now it is probably it is 7th day so your stitches should get removed by today.

I hope this information will help you. I will be glad to guide you any further.
