What Causes A Blister On Finger Along With Fever And Runny Nose?

Question: Went to dr on april 29th for infection around fingernail on right hand ring finger. I also work on a farm and had accidentally got some compost, basically dead oozzing animal on the cut and it burned so I cleaned asap but a blister arose up on the finger shortly after He gave Doxycycline 100mg 2 per day for 10 days for finger infection. May 7th, last day of doxy, I got sick with severe runny nose and ran 101 degrees all night long. Next day on May 8th I seen another doctor because mine was off. He treated me for sinus infection and gave me a shot of rocephin and 7 day supply of Levaquin. Fever subsided that night. The next night May 9th I went to ER and seen another doc because I had a quarter sized red round rash come up on my right forearm on the top side. He said it looked like a staff infection and also took my blood and sent it off to check for tick fever, but that takes like a week to get results and I do not have that info yet. He also x-rayed my lungs because drainage from the sinus infection had gotten in my lungs and he said I had Bronchitis. He gave me a shot of gentamicin and cleocin. Also prescribed 10 day supply of clindamycin 300mg 3 times daily. I started the oral capsules on May 11th. As of tonight I have taken 8 of the capsules and have 22 left. I do feel better but I still have pressure in my head like the sinus infection did not clear up completely, although my nose is somewhat clear now. My lungs are also clearer and I've coughed up a lot of very thick yellow and brown mucus. I have not ran a fever since May 9th. Today is May 13th, My concern is that about 4 hours ago I noticed a second red rash on my top of my wrist on the outside ball shaped bone. It is only about half the size of the original round rash that I seen the dr for on May 9th. Also the original rash is still present and has not gone away. I also took my temp and noticed that for the first time in 4 days I was running a low grade fever again, 99.2 or 99.3 in that range. When not sick I am usually in the 97 degree range. So my concern is all these shots and anitbiotics and tonight another rash spot shows up and I am showing signs of starting up a fever again. I am really concerned that this might be a very serious infection, or some strange hard to cure infection.

Please, provide an image of this rash for review!

Detailed Answer:
Hi and thank you so much for this query.

I am so sorry to hear about this rather disturbing trend of events that you have reported. I have reviewed your information fully. Though you have not completely regained your health, I am sure you reported improvement in your symptoms. At times it takes a little longer to get fully treated. With the multiple antibiotics you have taken all this why, this rash might be more of a minor drug reaction than an infection. I will like to take a persona look at it myself for review and more insights.

A temperature of 99.3 is strictly normal. Only temperature of more than 100 are suggestive of a fever and you are not there yet. The fact that you have always been about 97 does not make 99.3 a fever as fever is defined based on the temperature alone.

In all, your information suggests you are getting better. I will encourage you to continue with the medications. I will like an image of this rash for further review. Your temperature is normal and not suggestive of fever at this time. Do not nurse any serious concerns at this time and we would provide precise evaluation and plans on how to help address this condition as we obtain more details from you.

I hope this relieves your fears. I hope to receive the images for review. Until then, I wish you well.
