What Causes A Bruise On The Left Palm?

default
Posted on Mon, 3 Oct 2016
Question: A bruise appeared on my left palm just below my ring finger. I can hardly bend and straighten those fingers. That was yesterday. Today the bruise has spread wider on my palm and another one has appeared on the wrist of the same hand. I have no memory of an injury, so what could cause the bruising. I am diabetic and also "gifted" with osteoarthritis everywhere.

Brief Answer:
Bruise hand

Detailed Answer:
Thank you for contacting HCM with your health care concerns

You have noticed a bruise on your left palm not associated with any trauma. you also mention that you are a diabetic and most diabetics are on aspirin for heart protection. It is more than probable that because you are taking aspirin you had just enough trauma to the hand to cause a bruise. The bruise its self will cause pain, swelling and reduce ROM of the hand and fingers. It will resolve over the next few days. There is nothing you need to do nor anything that will make it go away any faster. Time is the treatment.
