What Causes A Pulling Sensation In Lower Abdomen?

default
Posted on Mon, 12 Jan 2015
Question: I have a pulling sensation in lower right abdomen. I would not describe it as painful. More of a sore feeling. I have had it a few times b4 over the course of a couple years. Its most noticeable when I lay flat on my back. Its most uncomfortable on my stomach. I am perimenopausal age 53. Its not painful if I push on the area. Don't think its low enough for appendix.

Brief Answer:
it might be due to number of cases

Detailed Answer:
Dear madam, welcome to healthcare magic. I understand your concern.

From your query it seems that the pain is in right lower abdomen. Let me know if I am wrong. I need further information like:-
1)Is soreness associated with any food intake?
2)Any signs of prolapse?
3)Any fever,vomitings?
4)When was your last period?

In my opinion the soreness in right abdomen might be due to number of reasons like:-
1)Endometriosis.
2)IBS
3)Chronic pelvic pain syndrome.
4)Any pelvic congestion.
5)Gastritis.
6)Muscular origin.
7)Any masses in abdomen.

In your case I knew from your history that you are in perimenopausal phase, but your age being 53 this phase is delayed. Usually it occurs at 47 years of age. Delay might be due to good nutrition or in cases like fibroids or endometrial pathology.

So I would suggest you to undergo examination by gynaecologist and ultrasound to rule out any pathology causing you the discomfort.

Kindly provide me the information for further discussion.
Looking forward to hear from you.
Best regards...Dr.srilatha
