Question : Ever since I was diagnosed with diabetes , I have had adverse reactions to alcohol, like a sup or two will make my eyes swell, get itchy, and my face generally itch , why is this, ?

Brief Answer: Diabetes Detailed Answer: I am sorry to learn about this unusual reaction. To the best of my knowledge, there is no published report of this nature in world medical literature. Are you on certain medications (other than those for diabetes, because modern diabetes medicines are not known to cause this problem) that have been known to cause 'disulfiram like reactions'. This is a medical term for medicines that interact with alcohol and cause unpleasant reactions in the body. Check with your family physician if any of your medications is capable of causing this reaction.
