What Causes An Itchy Blister On The Toe?

default
Posted on Thu, 24 Aug 2017
Question: I have been going to our lake house and two weeks ago the area at the back of one toe itched and I scratched and fairly quickly a large blister (size of a 25 cent coin) popped up and the area itched and burned more. I put a topical ointment on it and there ws no change. My husband thought it might have been a small snake bite or spider bite. I went to the doctor here and started on some antibodies and a different ointment. The blister broke, the wound like ugly but scabbed over and has now about gone, We went back to the lake house last weekend and the same thing happened again. What do you think caused the injury - black widow spider - maybe?

Brief Answer:
Unlikely to be a black widow spider bite

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thank you for your query.
I'm Dr. Shuba Hariprasad and will be answering your query today.

It is unlikely to be a bite from a black widow spider as the reactions to this spider's bite is more intense.
Mites, ticks, other bugs & spiders can cause such bites.
*did you have any redness, swelling around the blister or pain at the bite site?
*could you send a photos of the bite area, please?
Chiggers is likely near lakes.

Please stay covered, wear insect repellents and visit areas not covered by leaves or debris.

Make sure you check your hair, hands and feet after returning home, especially between your fingers and toes..

Hope you are better now. Please let me know if there is anything else I can help you with.

Wish you both good health.
Warm regards,
Dr. Shuba Hariprasad
