What Causes An Itchy Patch Of Small Spots On The Legs?

Question: I am travellng away from home. I have a skin rash in a few places mostly legs but also a couple of places on my arms. A patch of small spots which are itchy. I have used a cream called Dermofenac (hydracortisone 0.5%) but not really helping. What do you think? Many thanks. XXXXXXX XXXX

I have gone through your query and would try to help you in the best possible way. i have gone through the images attached. There could be a number of causes for your complaint. I would be in a better position to guide you if you answer following questions please:

1. since when are you having this problem?
2. did it start after taking some particular food or after going to bed?
3. are you allergic to some food?
4. did such problem occur in past?
5. do you have diabetes, hypertension or any other illness?
6. are you on any medication?
7. is anyone else in the family also having similar complaint?

Follow up: Dr. Muhammad Ali Rauf (3 hours later)

1) about 3 weeks. In 4 or 5 small areas as in photo 2) not really aware of particular food not bed related 3) none known 4) not this rash. 5) no diabetes, slight elevation of BP managed by Ramporil. No others 6) 30mg statin, Ramporil 2.5mg and Thyroxine 100 mm .

Hello

Thank you for the answers. i have gone through them. The symptoms you shared are suggestive of allergic reaction. If i were your treating doctor then i would have advised following things:

- cetirizine one at night for 3 days
- wash/change bedding thoroughly.

Hopefully you will see improvement in 2-3 days BUT if conditions remains same or aggravates then you need to visit hospital for further workup. As you are travelling so try to keep antihistamine medication with you (cetirizine) so that if same problem occurs in travel then you can take it.
