Question : I am 62, 5'8" 190 lbs in great shape and work out 4 times a week. Since taking singulair I have had more anxiety, depression and my blood pressure went from normal to 130 over 100. Should I stop taking this medication.

                                    Brief Answer:
change of drug is advisable.
Detailed Answer:
Hello
Welcome here.
Singulair is a leukotriene group of anti-allergic medication used for treatment of bronchospasms due to any allergies.
Can i know the reason why have you been taking singulair for last 6months?
And do you have pre-existing depression or anxiety? Taking any treatment for that?
If the anxiety and depression has worsened due to singulair, you can ask your physician for a drug change. Abrupt stopping can cause relapse in your allergic conditions, if you have any.
Hope this helps.
Thanks.

I was put on Singulair to assist with my allergies. I have been on Wellabutrin for several years, however the basis of my question was regarding high blood pressure. Since I have been on Singulair my blood pressure has gone up considerably. I have heard that this drug can greatly affect blood pressure so I have stopped taking it as of today. Please respond.

                                    Brief Answer:
singulair can cause high blood pressure.
Detailed Answer:
Dear XXXXXXX
There are many case reports of singulair causing hypertension. In some cases, it has caused significant increased in blood pressure.
I have seen this in my clinical experience as well.
It can worsen anxiety and depression as well.
I think the stopping of drug is the right step as of now but you must consult your doctor.
Hope this helps.
Thanks.
