What Causes Black Circle Around Neck?
Question: Hi Doc,
Hope you are doing well.
I have a brown complexion. I usually get acne when i get my periods or use any kind of scrub. My main issue is that i have a blackish circle around my neck. I thought it cud be bcoz of the gold chain that i wear. So, i stopped wearing the chain but wearing my black beads chain as am married so cant forgo that! Now i see that my skin is peeling where the beads touch the maximum...guess due to friction. So, i just wear them only when i go out of house. Also, recently, when i visited my gynec ...she said i have a pre-diabetic conditon. So, need to reduce my weight and check my sugar levels again. When i googled....i saw that this kind of black circle around the neck is classic example of pre-diabetes. Please help me!

It will be nice if you send the photo of the lesion to get real picture of problem.
It is not clear you have any symptoms like itching, redness,duration, any treatment,any other disease you have, any drugs intake,height and weight, present in any family members , present in any other site like folds axilla groin, any allergies ,any investigation done. Please clarify these.
It is likely that it may be acanthosis nigricans.If so it is associated with diabetes , obesity etc.
