Question : Hi there,
I'm a 32 yr old female having some urinary issues after taking a bath last 1/18. That night I started to have bladder pain and urethra discomfort which progressive got worse. I had a urine Culture come back as Strep B but only 10 to 25 thousand colonies. The md decided to treat it since I was having symptoms, which I needed injection due to my GI upset. Today was my 3 & final injection, being 5 , days now and while my bladder has gotten some what better, this urethra discomfort has not. I used no soap or bubbles till the very last minute I washed my face but did clean tub with Clorox before, but as a child I had issues with baths too to the point recommend my mother not give them to me.
I feel like this is irritation and wanted to know how one treats inflammation or irritation in that area. The 1st Nd gave me prednisone but im afraid to take with my gastritis and not sure if that would be effective or make things worse. ant advice? thoughts?

Hello
Thanks for your query.
I have gone through our discussion that we had 3 days ago regarding your problems .

I would again emphasize that you do not have interstitial Cystitis ,

Though urine culture has revealed Strep B in a small colony count we have to treat with appropriate antibiotic as per culture report .You have not mentioned the name of injectable drug that you are taking and whether it is being prescribed as per sensitivity report or otherwise.

Taking anti spasmodic like Flavoxate or Darifenacin along with urine alkaliser will help you to reduce the discomfort that you have in urethra.

Ensure to drink more water.

Hope I have answered your query ,please feel free to ask if you have more questions ,I shall be happy to help you
Thanks and Regards.

oh right! that's good to have the same person! Gentamyacine (sp) that's the injection. They gave me Uribel, that helped with the bladder spasms, but I notice overnight when im not drinking and wake in the morning I feel more irritation the more concentrated the solution is. I can't help but wonder if I did not get all cleaner out of the tub if it caused some kind of chemical irritation there. I would Think by 5 days I would feel a lot better but really don't. The 2nd Urgent-care Md I saw gave me valium actually thinking to help with the spasms and that goodness he did cause its the only thing that takes the edge off this odd annoying urethra sensation! Its the only way I sleep through the night really and in the day I break a pill abd take a half.
