What Causes Bleeding After Intercourse?

default
Posted on Sat, 12 Dec 2015
Question: Every time he ejaculates in me I bleed the next day or two days after. He is STD free and so am I. I've had a full pelvic exam, a Pap smear and blood work done less than a month ago. Not for this issue. I'm on BC and I take my pills consistently every day. I can be on my first week's pills right after a period and if he does it I'll bleed, not spot, for at least a week. It's not from the friction and he doesn't hit anything. When we use condoms everything is completely normal. I've researched and saw a lot of women have this problem but I haven't seen any answers .. Can anyone tell me what this is? Also, I never used condoms with my ex and this never happened. But I was not on birth control then.

Brief Answer:
Can be due to infections.

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thanks for trusting us with your health concern.
It is not normal to have bleeding after sex and it is usually found in vaginal infections like Chlamydia, gonorrhea or trichomoniasis, vaginal inflammation, disease of endometrium that is lining of uterus, polyps (mass) in uterus and cervix, fibroid tumor or endometritis.
Vaginal swab tests and culture tests may be false negative for STD’s like herpes and HPV also. Blood antibody testing are more accurate and these can include ELISA (for herpes, Chlamydia and HPV).
So I suggest you to get these blood tests done and for bacterial infections like Gonorrhea and Trichomoniasis, repeat culture sensitivity should be done. You also need to get an ultrasound uterus done to rule out any fibroids or polyps. A gynecologist should be consulted in this case.

Please feel free to discuss further. I will be glad to answer the follow up queries that you have.
Wishing you good health.
