Most common cause for this is cigarette smoking.
Other common causes are viral infection, bacterial infection, pollution, allergy, dust, chemical inhalation etc.
All these causes inflammatory changes in airways and make their wall edamatous.
It will also causes accumulation of secretions.
So patient feels breathlessness, cough and expectoration.
Fever is also seen if infection is the cause.
For diagnosis and treatment, you should consult pulmonologist and get done clinical examination of respiratory system and PFT (Pulmonary Function Test).
