Question : My daughter, 35, has been sick with fever off and on and an upper respiratory cough. She now has brown urine. Is this something for the ER?

Since, how long does she have fever?
Does she production of sputum or phlegm, chills, rigors, headache?
Is she tired?Loss of appetite?
Does she have burning urination?
Has she lost weight?

She has had a high fever off and on for about a week. It spikes and then returns to normal. she has chills and some coughing like when you have a sinus infection. She is constantly sleeping and hasn't eaten much. She hasn't said anything about burning urination.

Hi dear.Thanks for writing me back.

This seems like a sinusitis.
I were to examine, do a through ENT examination.Get X-ray of the nose and paranasal sinus.
High color urine is seen in infections.
Advise steam inhalation(2-3 times/day) to relieve congestion of the sinus.
Antipyretics(Paracetamol 500mg thrice daily) and antibiotics (Cefixime) for a week.
Suggest you to convince your daughter to take medication and see your MD before it worsens.All the best.She shall get well soon.
