What Causes Burning Before And After Urination And Discomfort During Intercourse?

default
Posted on Thu, 12 Jun 2014
Question: I have been having some burning mostly at night while sleeping before urination & after urination only off & on for over week after intercourse over week ago. I have large fibroids causing some pressure & sometimes frequent urination but never any trouble with urinating. I used to have a lot of UTI's years ago after intercourse & have not gotten them for years. This does not feel like a full blown UTI as there's no burning during urination. Since I'm menopause, I have some discomfort during intercourse & wonder since I'm older it got so irritated & inflamed & just needs to heal but usually doesn't last this long.

Brief Answer:
It could be due to post menopausal Vaginitis.

Detailed Answer:
Hello
Thanks for your query, based on the facts that you have posted it appears that you have burning before and after urination and discomfort during intercourse.

This could be mostly due to atrophic(dry) vaginitis that occurs due to oestrogen deficiency during peri menopausal period.

Please consult qualified Gynaecologist for clinical examination and further treatment.

Taking oestrogen orally and local intra vaginal oestrogen cream will help to resolve your symptoms.

Hope I have answered your query ,please feel free to ask if you have more questions ,
I shall be happy to help you
Thanks and Regards.

Why are the symptoms connected with the bladder? When it is getting full, the burning starts in vagina not the uretha as it does with a full blown bladder infection. And burning after urinarion? These are all symptoms of a healing bladder infection. Was some kind of permanent damage done from intercourse? It has never lasted this long. Usually I'll get a bladder infection in 24 hrs. Of intercourse- not this & it' sporadic, not constantly but becoming more constant though. Are synthetic Premarin the only help? I am a naturalist & do not like taking these synthetics drugs. Is there anything natural to help my problem.

Brief Answer:
Symptoms are due to same somatic nerve supply.

Detailed Answer:
Hello
Thanks for follow up.
Urinary symptoms are likely to be due to same somatic nerve supply for all genito urinary organs.
There are plenty of natural Oestrogen Supplements available like Soya.Genestein.Black Cohosh etc and sold on online market..You can try any one of them.
Thanks and Regards.

Brief Answer:
Could be due to anxiety.

Detailed Answer:
Hello
Thanks for follow up.
It is very difficult to reason out scientifically why it happens only at night .

May be because our mind is busy in other activities during day time where as it is free during night making conscious about it..

Thanks and Regards.
