What Causes Chest Pain, Increased Heart Rate And Hypertension While On Sotalol?

Question: I just wen on Sotalol after having a pacemaker implanted. I am also on low dosages of Ramipril and HCZT and also take simavastin. I am now having chest pains whenever mu heart rate gets to around 90 bpm and have a systolic blood pressure of around 150. Is this caused by the Sotalol along or by the combination of drugs I am taking?

Chest pain with increased heart rate and blood pressure is suggestive of increased blood demands by the heart which is not being met. This is caused by narrowing of supplying arteries. This can be captured by an EKG during exercise.

I'd suggest that you get this done quickly as a baseline test. If this shows consisted changes, then a cardiologist consult and catheterization should be considered.

Sotalol and other medications are not responsible for this pain. The above explanation is more plausible than any of these medications.
