Posted on Mon, 6 Oct 2014
Question: I started having chills in my head over a year ago, it's like sudden gushing chill. Don't know when it's going to happen. Borderline blood pressure and diabetics. It went away for awhile and now back again but this time goes down my face . It can be on either side left or right . Also I have had like pulse beating at top of head. Have been under some stress. Any suggestions as to what to do haven't gone to Dr. yet. What are chances of being tias

Brief Answer:
Unlikely to be TIAs/ Could be Migraines!

Detailed Answer:
Hi and thank you so much for this query.

I am so sorry to hear about these symptoms that you have reported. I have reviewed the information entirely and it is not suggestive of a TIA. TIA's would rarely alternate randomly and would not occur without producing a neurological deficit.

I am more of the thinking that these symptoms may rather represent a migraine seen the fact that it affects just one side and you are going through some tough times right now. For now, I will like that you get enough rest, try to address whatever is stressing you out, and try a combination of Tylenol and Ibuprofen at doses recommended by your pharmacist. If these fail to resolve your symptoms, then I will recommend you visit a doctor for examination and maybe some testing.

In all, this is not TIA. Possible Migraine. Try rest, moderate and refreshing exercises, a trial of Ibuprofen and Tylenol. If symptoms don't improve, seek medical consultation with your primary care physician.

I hope this helps. I wish you well. Thank you so much for using our services and feel free to ask for more information and clarifications if need be.
