I have gone through your query. Two broad possibilities need to be kept in consideration:
* Post nasal drip - It is due to an allergic reaction where thick mucus is produced in the throat and that gives the gagging sensation.
* Gastroesophageal reflux - The stomach acids may regurgitate back to the throat, thus giving a gagging sensation.

The exact reason can be discerned only after a careful examination and I would insist you to visit a doctor for the same.
