
What Causes Constipation While On Antibiotics?

Question : I had H-pylori for the last couple weeks and was given some antibiotics. I feel better but still not yet there. I have constipation now, is this as a result?

Yes,constipation is common side effect of many antibiotics and antacid medicines but usually.This is temporary and not concerning. Also, eradication of h.pylori is just one step of gastritis treatment. Much more time is required for complete cure about 2-3 months but is needs to be associated with dietary changes as well. Also need to avoid stress and smoking. But after h.pylori treatment,it will be definitely easier. Wish you good health. Regards

What do you recomend for diet. I.e. What to eat and what not to it for curing the h.pylori. Thanks

First you should reduce alcohol, carbonated drinks and coffee.
Second, you should avoid spices such as Black and red pepper, Garlic, Chili.
Also highly seasoned, high-fat meats, such as sausage, salami, bacon, ham, and cold cuts may aggravate symptoms and fried food in general.
