default
Posted on Thu, 21 Apr 2016
Question: I cannot belch. The only way to release stomach air is to gag myself. By evening, even that doesn't work. No one seems to have any ideas. Help.

Brief Answer:
few possible causes

Detailed Answer:
Hi and welcome to HCM.
This may be caused by hiatal hernia, esophageal spasms, or disorders in esopahgeal and stomach innervation. Most common is hiatal hernia and this is treated by medications first an if no success, then surgery may be considered.
You should avoid food that causes gas, fried food, coffee and alcohol. Drink more water, menta tea, milk products and probiotics, boiled food.
You should also , beside antacids, take omeprasole or ranitidin.
TO confirm the diagnosis you need to do gastroscopy and barium swallow test.
Wish you good health. Regards
