Please see details below.

Detailed Answer:
Dear XXXXXXX

I can understand your concern regarding dreaming. Dreaming is a normal physiological process, where every human being does. Our sleep is divided into two phases, REM sleep and Non-REM sleep. Dreams do occur in both the phases but generally one is able to recall dreams that occur in REM sleep.

As the night progresses, more of our sleep is REM sleep. By early morning hours, it is mostly REM sleep and there is much higher chances of our remembering dreams in the morning time.

Generally, you don't need to do for your dreams. As I said earlier, they are normal occurrences. However, many times when we are stressed, dreams which have negative themes occur frequently. It is these dreams which actually disturb us.

In your case, if you are feeling stressed or preoccupied about certain things, you need to take care of that. Trying to relax yourself by meditation and exercise do help.

In case, you feel that you are not able to take care of your stress (if you are stressed at all), you might seek a psychiatric consultataion. Treatment with anti-depressants like escitalopram will help.

Hope, I was able to answer your query. Please feel free to ask any further queries that you might have.

Best wishes,

Dr. Sunil Gupta
