Posted on Mon, 24 Nov 2014
Question: In the past I've had blood in my stool on occasion but it has always coincided with what i assumed to be a hemmroid that comes and goes.
Yesterday and today there has been blood dripping out along with my stool but i have no other symptoms....no feeling of a hemmroid and no constipation

Brief Answer:
It could be an internal haemorrhoid.

Detailed Answer:
Hi
As per your description, it looks like internal haemorrhoid.
Only external haemorrhoids are seen.Internal ones will be diagnosed with Proctoscopic examination by a doctor.
If there is pain while passing stool,it could be fissure in ano. In some people, both fissure and haemorrhoids can be present.
You should take high fiber diet, drink plenty of liquids, eat fresh fruits and vegetables. Your stool should be soft.
If there is no response by the above measures, please consult your doctor and get examined.
First and 2nd degree haemorrhoids can be treated with medicines and diet
3rd and 4th degree need surgery.
Hope I answered your query.
If you have any questions, I will clarify further.
Wish you good health.

Brief Answer:
You follow the dietary habits.

Detailed Answer:
Hi
Blood which comes from the lower gut like Colon, rectum and anus will be bright red in colour.
Blood in stool from the upper gut like stomach and duodenum will be dark tarry coloured.
Please follow the dietary measures that I have mentioned previously.
If there is no response, get examined clinically.
Sometimes, you may need investigations like Colonoscopy or Upper GI Endoscope to confirm the source of bleed.
Nothing to worry.
Wish you good health
