What Causes Dropping Of Platelet Count After An Infection?
Question: I have a friend in the Philippines. Her platelet count dropped to 130, then 123, back up to 129. This has been going on for 2 days. She recently got over an infection the hospital she is at is aware of. Is there anything her family can do to help improve her platelet count? The hospital is saying its because her stomach isn't digesting her food? If she eats grapes, the grapes show up in her feces. She wakes up long enough to drink some water, stares at the family, doesn't communicate, then falls back asleep.

I mentioned that she's not responsive to family members. Is this a normal reaction to a low platelet count? Obviously the infection is back which is why they are treating it with Cefixime Ultraxime. Just want to make sure they aren't ignoring something important. Thank you so much!
