What Causes Elevated ALT Levels Despite Having A Healthy Diet?

My question is: What side effects on liver & kidneys? I have had heart bypass about 4 years ago, Hep C from blood transfusion in the 60's through 70's.HIP REplacement.....I am on a injectable blood thinner and want to get off meds, we can't afford a $2000 prescription every month. I am 76 years young, and am still going strong, despite the fact of so many years of surgeries and xrays and all synthetic drugs that were taken...l am a Natural Physician and am very disiplined with my diet. I have detoxed numerous times and have kept the liver count fairly low, but now it is back up to over 2000....Please help? Thank you, XXXXX

Detailed Answer:
Hello and Welcome
I appreciate your concern
If you are Hepatitis C positive with a positive PCR for viral load then treatment must be offered according to the genotype. By liver count , I would assume you mean the ALT. 2000 is very high and suggests acute hepatitis. Viral hepatitis profile should be done. If you are on blood thinners, it means that you have a clotting tendency. Diet and detox alone have very little role in countering such complicated processes. The new antivirals for Hepatitis C have very high cure rates compared with the previous standard interferon and ribavirin therapy. Hep C is a risk factor for insulin resistance, developing hepatocellular carcinoma and diabetes as well among its complications, so its better to treat than not to treat.
Wishing you best of health
Thanks
