Question : I have been taking 20mg Olmatec at night now for 1 week. BP was spiking to 160/95 but now 101/54. I feel dizzy, lethargic & look anaemic. Is this normal? Should I reduce dosage to 10mg daily instead?
Brief Answer:
probably yes
Detailed Answer:
Hello,
although 101/54 is not abnormal and should not cause any symptoms, the target blood pressure in patients who use antihypertensive medications is not lower than 130mmHg (systolic) with some rare exceptions. There is no need to keep your blood pressure so low when under treatment, so I would agree with your idea to reduce the dosage to 10mg daily.
Please note that other causes of your symptoms will have to be considered like having an infection, anemia, low iron stores, etc.
I hope you find my comments helpful!
You can contact me again, if you'd like any clarification or further information.
Kind Regards!
