Brief Answer:
Ateroesclerosis...

Detailed Answer:
Hi, thank you for posting.

I have gone through your query and I understand your concerns.

Aortic aneurysm(enlargement of aorta) can occur as a result of trauma, bacterial infections and abnormality of elastin and collagen(components of aortic wall).

But there are some factors that aggravate Aortic aneurysm such as:
1. Hypertension(high blood pressure).
2. Hypercholesterolemia(high cholesterol level in blood).
3. Vascular diseases such as Ateroesclerosis.
4. Smoking cigarettes.

These are the causes and the factors that aggravate Aortic aneurysm. But in the most common cases Aortic aneurysm is caused by Ateroesclerosis.

To prevent aortic aneurysm complications you should follow these precautions:
1. Quit smoking cigarettes(if you smoke).
2. Keep your blood pressure under control.
3. Eliminate animal fats from your diet in order to keep cholesterol level under control.
4. Eat a lot of fruit and vegetables.
5. Make physical exercises such as aerobic exercises and walking.

Consult your cardiologist.

Ask me for anything unclear.

All the best.
Dr. Behar.
