Question : I have a 13 year old grand-son who sleeps all the time, He does not do his normal activities, like video games, and his grades are going down. He has been to the doctor and had blood tests but nothing has shown up. He is 5' 5" and only weighs 87.4 pounds. They have tried an appetite stimulant with some weight gain.

                                    Brief Answer:
have they checked for thyroid
Detailed Answer:
Hi
Thanks for writing to us.
From your description it looks like your grandson is not doing well physically in weight gain and scholastically showing lower performance than before.
I would suggest you test for thyroid and lead levels if not tested already.
Do deworm him with albendazole.
Continue appetising medicines along wiyh iron supplements.
Iron does help in stimulating appetite and also helps bosst memory.
Give him protein rich foods like chicken and soya.
Wishing him good health
