Posted on Thu, 28 Apr 2016
Question: I have checked out my symptoms and it seems that I have Fecal Incontinence. This has limited my way of life considerably. What can I do? It started after I was diagnosed with Pulmonary Hypertension and prescribed Sildenafil.

Detailed Answer:
Hi my dear,

I have gone through your medical history carefully and before running into final conclusions, I need to have a few more data regarding your current health situation :
- can you explain the problems you have that make you think about fecal incontinence?
- as per your description, you're saying to be using imodium; was it before the problems started or after?
- apart imodium, any other medication or diet changes you tried recently?

Looking forward to have the requested information in.
Thank you!

1. every time I urinate I have a bowel movement; I also have bowel movements when I stand up to walk and during the night.
2. I started using Imodium after going to my doctor.
3. apart from Imodium I don't eat but once a day and I don't eat foods containing milk, sugar, and sodas.

Brief Answer:
Need to run following diagnostic tests

Detailed Answer:
Hi back my dear,

Sorry for the late reply due to my XXXXXXX clinical overload.

Thank you for providing the requested information.

From what you are reporting, your problems with fecal incontinence could be related to anal sphyncter dysfunction. Digital examination together with anoscopy and manometry testing are advised for proper diagnosis. Fecal analysis is also recommended.

I advise to :
- start doing Kegels exercise
- go to bathroom each time you feel the need, do not delay
- make a habit to go to toilet once daily at same time or each time you feel the need

All the best!
Dr.Albana
