What Causes Fever After Stopping Chantix Intake?
Question: Friend has always seem to have heartburn with a lot of food, now he has it with everything he eats, even toast. Starting taking Omeprazle also for the acid reduction. He stopped smoking about two weeks ago with Chantix, which he stopped taking about a week and 1/2 ago. He now feels terrible, was running fever last night 100.1 The only time he is comfortable is while soaking in a warm bath, temp. was taken a long time after bath. Could the stopping of the Chantix be making him ill? He thought he would feel better after not smoking but he feels terrible, won't go to the Dr. yet.

chantix is only for quitting smoking and and stopping of chantix wont be the cause of high grade fever.
First of all I suggest you consult a physician to know the cause of fever and treat accordingly.
Quitting of smoking is a good decision and I don't think that problem is due to that.
you can take chantix again or other drugs for smoking cessation after consulting a doctor.
sometimes under stress acid secretion increased so result in heartburn.
I also suggest you consult a psychiatrist for detail history and mental status examination.

On your Brief answer: Really??? consult psychiatrist??? Are you serious? That is your first answer? It is not funny. I am asking the question because I was concerned as I have not ever know my friend to be sick and now he has been in bed two days. The Omeprazole does not appear to be helping otherwise he would not be having sever heartburn just eating toast.
At least you answered the question about the Chantix not causing the fever.
No I have not gone to a psychiatrist for an evaluation they would probably tell me my wanting to call you a jerk is normal and that maybe I was stupid to pay for this service.
